This cottage is named the “Bear cottage” because the owners who live nearby have seen bears on a few occasions.
It is located in Mörtebo, which is a small village 20 mins north of Ockelbo, where farming and livestock is close by. Mörtebo made the news a couple of years ago when pigs in a nearby farm scared the wolves away. The cottage is owned by a wonderful charming retired couple who is originally from Russia and Greece. They fell in love with Sweden the first time they visited (they actually rented one of the cottages in Kolforsen) and for many years planned their retirement to move to Ockelbo and buy a house. They are now living their dream and would like others to fall in love with Ockelbo they same way they did.
It has taken some time to renovate this cottage, but now it is ready to receive guests in the summer months. The rustic timber structure and the wooden interior really give a “back-to-nature” feeling. It is mostly suited for a couple as there is one double bed downstairs. The sleeping loft upstairs is not yet fully habitable.
The cottage is set on the owners' land, so if you are looking for total Ockelbo and the surrounding areas this is the place to be.
